How to get to Safaga:

From different airports from Europe direct to Hurghada or via Luxor, Sharm el Sheik or Cairo. Airborne time: London-Hurghada approx. 5 - 51/2 hours. Transfer time from Hurghada airport to Safaga hotel : approx. 60 min.

Entry Rules:

Passport: valid at least another 6 months. Visa: if not through the travel agency in your home country then available at the Hurghada airport upon arrival.

Medical precautions / vaccinations:

No special precautions are needed, however it might be recommendable to ask your doctor to check. A minor travel case for medicals is wise to bring along.

Currency:

The local currency is the Egyptian pound (LE). Traveller's cheques and cash can be exchanged easily in the banks. Credit cards are not accepted everywhere. Important: Exchanging Egyptian pounds back to other international currencies is expensive and sometimes even impossible.

Season:

All year around. The dry desert climate is changing according to our winter and summer, but the temperatures are more pleasant. Wintertime: approx. 20 – 25 C, when the sunset however cooler ! Watertemp. approx. 20 – 22 C. The summer is very hot but with a fresh breeze out on the sea. Remember to take sun cream with a high sun blocker. Water temp. max. approx. 28 C.

Telephone / Email:

The country code for Egypt is : 0020 followed by the area code leaving out the "0" + the phone no. Fax is possible to send or receive at the hotel reception in most hotels.

@mail service is available at the diving centre. Internet coffee shops in Safaga.

Food:

In the hotels often international dishes are served – mainly build up as colourful buffets. In Hurghada there are a large selection of Egyptian restaurants with tasty menus – as well as several international restaurants.

Traffic:

Well, there’s a subject ! For a foreigner it is probably as difficult to understand the way of driving in Egypt, as it is to read or speak their language. Amazingly, it is told that Egypt was the first place where traffic rules existed! Nowadays there is only one rule left : Look out for everything that moves.

Laws:

Exposing yourself is not allowed ! Swimsuits or bikinis must be used ! No topless sunbathing either is allowed. This is written down by law as well as condemned by the religious.

Remember you are only a guest in this country so do behave like one by showing this culture your respect. It is highly appreciated and this way you can win much more during your holiday.

Insurance:

A dive insurance is offered at the centre. This insurance has to be paid in advanced and is really worth signing up. It covers up to a period of 3 weeks and pays in case you need to be treated in a decompression chamber, which is an expensive matter without the insurance.

Our Philosophy
Many people are able to speak to you about the diving. It is excellent for you, but also for us, since that obliges us to revise our services and to improve us in order to remain above the fray. We are somewhat different from the majority of the centers of diving.
